Oryzon is the first Spanish biomarker discovery company with a dual R&D pipeline in diagnostics and therapeutics.  Oryzon is focused on developing products for cancer and neurodegenerative diseases. Incorporated in 2001, the company today has close to 80 employees and world class R&D facilities in the World Trade Center Almeda Park in Cornellà de Llobregat, Barcelona.


 
MEDICINAL CHEMIST   
A vacancy has arisen for an experienced medicinal chemist within Oryzon's small molecule drug discovery unit. The succesful candidate will be expected to work pro-actively, under minimal supervision, to design and synthesize novel small molecule agents as potential tratments for cancer and neurodegenerative disorders. Moreover, he/she should interact effectively with a diverse group of scientists within Oryzon and with external collaborators, in particular, with contract research organizations providing synthetic chemistry services.
Requirements: Organic chemistry degree with at least four year's experience working in medicinal chemistry in an industrial setting; High level of spoken and written English and Spanish; Demonstrable knowledge of synthetic organic chemistry and competency in practical synthetic chemistry and analytical methods; Experience of manipulating and utilizing chemical databases to analyse multi-parameter datasets would be highly advantageous.
