Cxbladder®: a non-invasive bladder cancer diagnostic test.

The bladder is a hollow organ in the lower abdomen that stores urine produced by the kidneys. Bladder cancer occurs in the lining of the bladder.
The most frequent warning signs include:

  • Blood in urine
  • Frequent need of urinating, or pain during urination
  • Pain in the lower part of the back

Among men, bladder cancer is the fourth most common tumor in Europe with an incidence of 83,876 new cases per year.
Spain has one of the world's largest incidence rates. During 2008, there were 11,227 new cases in men and 1,781 women, with a ratio between the two sexes of 6: 1.
Bladder cancer is a serious public health problem by reason of its high incidence and, most of all, to its high prevalence, resulting in an increasing number of hospital admissions for this condition.

Concerning risk populations, there are 3 groups:

  • Smokers: it is the largest risk group for contracting the disease (two times more than non-smokers).
  • Risk occupations: those who work in areas exposed to the presence of carcinogenic substances and certain toxic chemicals.
  • Family history.


Cxbladder® is a non-invasive and painless test for the detection of bladder cancer.

  • Cxbladder® is a product based on the quantitative analysis of the differential expression of 5 genes.
  • Cxbladder® shows an excellent accuracy, with >95% sensitivity at 85% specificity to detect bladder cancer compared with other commercially available products
  • Cxbladder® allows to rule out the presence of tumor with 97% accuracy (NPV) and can differentiate between high-grade and low-grade bladder cancer.
  • Cxbladder® is a product that allows a painless and non-invasive sample collection (urine)
  • Cxbladder® is a product based on solid scientific evidences, and clinically validated in a multicentre trial.
